Validity checked on: January 2021
Dear students, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with your rights. It is important to act on any violations of the Study Regulations.
Below, we present a prepared excerpt from the Regulations of Higher Studies, but we encourage you to read the entire document.
- Classes for full-time students as well as tests and tests related to completion of courses are held for 15 weeks, from Monday to Friday. (RS §4 section 5 point 1)
- The examination session during the studies lasts 13 working days and 2 or 3 Saturdays during the examination period. (RS §4 section 9)
- The break between the winter and summer semesters begins after the end of the session and lasts at least 4 working days. (RS §4 section 11)
- You have the right to the protection of your personal data, in particular of the grades you receive. (RS §5 section 1 point 14)
- The right to access your assessed work - tests, reports from laboratories, projects, control work, as well as to exam work on the date specified by the teacher. (RS §5 section 1 point 15, RS §14 section 14)
- The student’s rights and the right to owning a student ID are valid until the day of the graduation, and in case of a first-cycle graduate, until October 31 of the year in which the studies were completed. (RS §5 section 4)
- After the approval of the grade and possible settlement of the complaint, the grade in the electronic index may not be changed. (RS §10 section 3)
- The university provides students with the confidentiality of the obtained grades. (RS §14 section 6)
- During the first class in the semester, the tutor must provide the conditions for crediting the course and the date of completing the course, including the rules of attending organized classes, as well as the manner of informing about the grades. (RS §14 section 10)
- The tutor, in consultation with the students and with the dean’s consent, may set an additional credit date, until the end of the exam session of the semester. (RS §14 section 12)
- The teacher is obliged to issue the final grade and enter it into the electronic student record book no later than two working days after the deadline for the final examination and after allowing the student to view his/her graded papers. The teacher is obliged to respond to complaints within two working days. (RS §14 section 14)
- The exams are conducted in the same language as, according to the curriculum, the course/group of courses was conducted in. (RS §15 section 2)
- The students may, in agreement with the examiner and with the consent from the dean, take the exam earlier than the scheduled date. (RS §15 section 5)
- In justified random cases, with the knowledge of the examiner, the dean may allow a student to take the exam after the deadline. In these cases, the dean may also consent to the cancellation of the course ending with an exam, to which a student was enrolled (transferring it to the next semester). (RS §15 section 6)
- By the end of the fourth week of classes in a given semester, the examiner determines the form of the examination and the conditions for passing it, and proposes examination dates. (RS §15 section 7)

If the student is absent from the examination on a given date, the student retains the right to this date only after accepting the excuse presented immediately. (RS §15 section 7)
- The examiner issues an exam grade, informs the student about it and allows the student to see the work. Then, within three working days from the date of the examination and no later than on the second working day after the end of the examination session, the grade is entered into the JSOS system, and thus into the electronic index. (RS §15 section 9)
- A disabled student has the right to take the exam on an individual basis, depending on the needs resulting from the disability. (RS §15 section 11)
- In justified cases, at the student's request, who questions the obtained grade due to the manner, conditions, scope or form of the examination, the Dean may order an examination before an examination board. (RS §16)
In the event of a breach of the regulations, each student or group of students has several options to react to the situation:
- Bring the lecturer’s attention to the issue
- Inform the head of the unit (Department or Institute)
- Inform the Dean
- Inform the Faculty Student Government
- Inform the University-wide Student Self-Government - the Board of the Students’ Parliament
- Inform the Rector (appeals against the Dean’s decision in exceptional circumstances pursuant to the §28 section 4 of the Study Regulations)
In cases where a student or a group of students prefer to intervene anonymously, it is worth using the help of the Student Government. We also strongly encourage you to participate in the post-session meetings, where everyone can submit their comments on the course of the session. In the case of violations of the Study Regulations, it is best to contact us by e-mail.
